My Appalachian Summer.
In 1962, with reform school looming, a tough Detroit kid is sent to spend the summer with his grandparents in the mountains of Appalachia, where he learns to value family, friendship, faith, and the adventure that awaits in the hills and hollers of Tennessee.
A Word From The Author
Our world doesn’t just need Christians who believe, it needs Christians who will lean in and live out their God-given gifts where they already spend their lives: at home, at work, at school, and in the community.
When we do, God can spark a renewed Christian culture, a renaissance marked by beauty, truth, and love for our fellow man. That renewal shows up in every arena: the arts (painting, sculpture, architecture, storytelling), theology and philosophy, music (sacred and secular), medicine and mental health, education, social reform (nursing, poverty relief, justice and mercy), and business, and commerce that support what is good and lasting.
This is not about chasing influence. It’s about faithful presence: opening new pathways to bring glory to God, advance the gospel of Jesus Christ, and serve others as we live under the giftedness and grace of the Holy Spirit.
To this end, I write, I teach I pastor and shepherd. Amen.
